Nice article - I had wondered how the flash worked in the High-sync mode.

Yea, the interesting thing about the article is how he explained flash duration.  You would think that high-speed sync where you have you shutter say at 1/800th or so would further stop action better, but in fact that’s not at all the case.  At that shutter speed the flash duration is actually lengthened and thus not stopping action as good as say down at 1/200th sec where the flash duration is much shorter.  It takes a different mind of thought but once you focus on “how long the subject is lit” it all starts to make sense.
