D5000 as professional backup body

I've been needing to pick up a backup camera body for my D700 for when I shoot weddings. After looking at the latest DXO rankings, I noticed both the D90 and the D5000 have higher sensor rankings than the Canon 1DMKIII! That's impressive stuff. The D5000 also has that cool articulating LCD with live view.

Like you said at work, Nikon seems to be beating Canon in the sensor race. I would love a D700, but the hassel of switching from Canon to Nikon is a bit much esp. seeing that I may have a 5D MKII in my near future...I know the D5000 does the same thing...beats the 5D MkII in sensor rankings, but not by a land-slide

I use a Nikon D5000 as a backup camera, but also use it for a day outings fitted with a 16-85mm lens, all I have do when I see something I want to photo I just hold this light setup and get a
very good photo thanks to this brilliant setup from Nikon, all for less than £850 for a Nikon D5000 & Nikon 16-85mm VR lens.

Jason, welcome to the MP. We would like to see some shots from that setup if at all possible.
Thanks!
