Mines is brand "spanking" new and some dust specs on the front element!  I could send it back to BH (Already have the RMA #) but am worried that I might get one that is worse or a lens that is not as sharp as the one I currently have.  Called Canon and said that it would be under warranty and that it has to be sent out to Irvine California for cleaning.

I assume that this is a common issue with this lens.  Everywhere I read, dust seems to be the common denominator.  But it does take sharp pics throughout the whole focal range.

It's these little things that bugs the hell out of me!  Dam these dust specs!
