To be honest, I use the GIMP quite a bit and have never found it lacking, but I have never done an in depth analysis comparing the two. Anyone know the pros/cons of The GIMP vs. Photoshop?

I have not used GIMP (only Photoshop).  Here are a couple web sites that are comparing the two that might give you some insight:

According to those articles the Gimp did quite well. One comment did mention that Gimp didn't have as much color depth options - anyone know where that would come into play?

Thanks for starter topic here Mike and John for the links.  Not sure about the color depth stuff.  I use 16bit sRGB for all my work.
