Morning Light #8 - Not Yet by jbdenham, on Flickr

Canon EOS Rebel XSi, 50mm f1.8, f1.8, 1/100, ISO800

Upon waking up this morning, I had the vision of there being an unbelievable sunrise and could see geese gathering and flapping their wings at their fall migration prep site - a pond on the only farm left in our neighborhood. That vision was quickly dashed when the beautiful sunrise was blocked out by a heavy fog. Even though somewhat disappointed, the thought crossed my mind that morning light is not always a bright sunshine - sometimes it is a dense fog, or overcast, or even raining. So I pressed on.

It's amazing how the same old walk on the same old path will yield totally different results nearly every time you travel it. The viewfinder pointed itself at many macro-like images, mainly of flowers, leaves, and other foliage whose appearance has changed due to exposure to the summer elements, and the incredibly disheartening fact that Fall is just around the corner.

My last trip down this path produced no memory of the flowers in today's image. A flower as vibrant as these surely would have caught my eye before, but you never know. But its beauty was not the reason for taking the picture. It was due to the one bud not being open versus its sister buds expressing themselves quite loudly. No doubt it will open soon, but it's not time...at least, not yet!

Welcome jdenham!  Wonderful capture and story to go along with it.  We'd like to see some more.  Also, I may end up moving this to the Nature forum a bit later...it's not really macro.

Thanks for posting.

Welcome Jimmy.  Lovely hemerocallis blooms.  They also make lovely abstract subjects.
