24-70 nikkor/35-70

Hello All.

   I have been using my 35-70 2.8 lens for the last few years and it does all I ask of it but as it is getting on in years I am thinking to up grade it to the new 24-70 f2.8 G ed lens. Is there someone who has got one who could tell me what it is like and is it worth changeing or am I being made to change. Your views would be very helpful.

The best thing to do, if you have an eBay account is to search your lens and view closed auctions and see what $$ they closed at.
