Pros:
  • Cheapest lens at 1.8f. Very Sharp above 3.0f, decent wide open at 1.8f.
Cons:
  • Autofocus is driven by a micro motor. Focus speeds are a bit slow, but fine in good light with subjects that are not moving quickly.
  • Poor bokeh since it only has five non-rounded aperture blades.
  • Feels fragile. But you should not be dropping your lenses anyways.

Over all this lens is great in low light and if the subject is not moving to fast. I pick one up for $85 and at that price it is a must have.

Although re-posting what Zigmo wrote, here's my take on it

Pros:

* Fast 1.8 lens
* Cheap to purchase
* Wife/Party/Friend friendly lens.. hard to stuff any of the shots when drunk Smiley

Cons:

* The autofocus speed without doubt
* Shooting at 1.8 in a burst mode for indoor sports (ie basketball sequences for training) autofocus is not only slow, but struggles sometimes & kicks in and out of focus on subject.

Like said above, definately a worthwhile lens to keep in your kit.. I love it
