Description: Color C-41 negative barrel scan from ~1996. Shot taken with a Sea & Sea 35mm UW camera. This is Bowser...Bowser lived in a sunken ship's anchor assist located in the bow of the ship. The ship sunk upright off the west coast of Oahu (Mahi Shipwreck) and rested at 100ft. It was my only boat dive while in Hawaii. The shallow dive just before this dive I captured a green sea turtle (Tripod). I found out after coming back to the dive shop (Ocean Concepts) sponsoring the boat dive to give this photo to them that someone had speared and killed Bowser with a Hawaiian Sling spear...what a shame! Description: Color C-41 negative barrel scan from ~1996. Shot taken with a Sea & Sea 35mm UW camera. This is tomato clown was taken while we stopped in Guam for a quick 2-week up-keep. A locally stationed USN Master Chief was a veteran diver and took us to a shore dive near-by. We all were laughing under our breaths when we saw the location (shipping harbor, with oil tankers and material goods freighters). Once we submersed we were looking literally at that opening scene from Finding Nemo...incredible. Having dove mostly in Hawaii (some of the youngest island formations in the Pacific) where the coral was still just starting to grow, Guam was completely different with loads of mature coral. It takes hundreds and hundreds of years for coral reefs to mature. Tomato Clown Fish in a sea anomie "So Nemo, where do you live?" "I live in a sea anomminomminomminommine." Shot with ASA 100 speed color print film and a 2T macro conversion lens. ]]>

Description: Tripod, the green sea turtle. If I recall correctly, I used Kodak Royal Gold ASA 100 speed film. I was stationed on the USS Columbus SSN 762 Submarine in Pearl Harbor, HI in the mid-90’s. I never had much time to dive in Hawaii, but I managed to catch this shot while on a boat dive off the west coast of Oahu (Makaha Caverns). I remember the videographer “Mel” from Ocean Concepts telling us that we should see a 3-flippered green sea turtle called “Tri-Pod” and he warned the females with long hair to tuck their hair into their wetsuits since Tripod liked hair ;-) Tripod had a 6-pack plastic cola keeper around one of her flippers which cut off the circulation and killed that flipper. The dive was a shallow dive at roughly 40ft max. I was tracking Tripod with my gear by swimming back to the ocean floor and recall getting about 6 shots off…all the while trying to get the suns reflection behind her head. This shot was inspired by a poster taken from an unknown photographer who shot for an organization then called “Under Hanauma” a group dedicated to preserving Hanauma Bay. ]]>

I created this photo from 3 exposures. This is a shot of a shed near an abandoned house just outside Jefferson City, MO. I took an under-exposed, normal-exposed, and over-exposed shot and merged them into Photomatix to create an HDR image. Shot with my Canon EOS 30D and Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. ]]>
